The Cairns Classic is back! The 2016 Qantas Golf Club Cairns Classic will bring the best PGA professionals from across Australia and New Zealand to compete at Tropical North Queensland’s most iconic golf course, Paradise Palms.
Situated between two natural wonders, the Daintree World Heritage Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, Paradise Palms is a world-class golf course in the heart of Tropical North Queensland, just 20 minutes north of Cairns. Continuously ranked as one of Australia’s top 100 courses, Paradise Palms 18-hole championship golf course offers a combination of sweeping fairways, creeks and lakes, narrow undulating greens and 72 bunkers. Designed by Graham Marsh and Ross Watson the par 71 course measures 6,331 metres off the championship tees and its AGU rating of 75 offers the first clue as to the scale of the challenge that awaits the keen golfer.
Household names like Ian Baker-Finch and Wayne Grady have all played on the PGA Pro-Am Series Sunshine Swing, with the Tour providing playing opportunities for Australian professionals for the past 50 years. The PGA Pro-Am Series plays an important part in the development of Australia’s Professional Golfers whilst also growing the game at a grass roots level by engaging an estimated 48,000 amateur golfers each year.
